"Midnight Ride"
A One Of A Kind Vermont Harvest Folk Art Piece. These two little mousers have hitched a "Midnight ride" home on Olde Mister Raven. I absolutely love how this piece came out. Makes a stunning display for the upcoming Fall~Halloween Season. This regal Raven is made from aged, painted and waxed muslin. He has a needle-sculpted beak & French knot eyes. His large wings have been quilted and wired. His two little mouse riders are made from aged flannel, have needle-sculpted facial and body features, tiny black French knot eyes, wool ears, thread whiskers and wire tails. The little mouser that rides in the back wears a black flannel witch’s hat and a wired aged cheesecloth scarf. The little mouser that rides in front wears an aged cheesecloth scarf. The Oak wooden stand has been painted, aged & waxed. There is an aged paper scene decoupaged on to its base which features a family who has been surprised by an unexpected visitor...a young Witch. Unfortunately, I could not get the lighting right and you are unable to see it well in the pictures; it is actually much lighter than it appears. There is also an aged paper tag wired to the post which reads "Midnight Ride".
The entire piece measures 14" tall x 15" wide and is securely mounted onto it's base.

Sir Edwin III #01
~ In the "Chill Of The Season" series Meet Sir Edwin III ~
Keeper of The Book Of Spells.
Made from extremely aged muslin, Sir Edwin III is a stump doll, weighted and mounted on a painted and aged wooden base. He has a needle-sculpted nose and drawn facial features that have been sealed. His wildly thining black hair is made from wool and has been securely sewn in place He wears an outfit made from aged cheesecloth and a top coat made from aged black flannel and features two rusty bell buttons. His raggedy neck shawl is made from aged cheesecloth as well. On his lapel he wears a dried mum. In his rusty wire hands (thank you Pam of Soft In The Head for the wire hand technique) he holds his coveted "Book of Spells" made from aged paper and cotton string and his trusty "Ceptor" made from an aged stick and a small painted clay ball which I then drenched in German Glass Glitter.
This piece measures 13" tall and is securly mounted to it's base. A Vermont Harvest Folk Art Original Design by Doreen Frost (c) August 2008
